According to AsiaOne.com:

HONG KONG, May 1 (Reuters) – Hong Kong confirmed Asia’s first case of the H1N1 flu in a Mexican traveller on Friday, prompting authorities to seal off the hotel where the patient was staying.

- It seems to me that this is SARS all over again and bound to follow the similar patterns of infection, the same mistakes are made all over again such as being “complacent” instead of taking “preventive” measures.

The Mexican so happen to be able to enter Hong Kong while the rest of the world knows there are SUPER high chance of infection by people travelling from Mexico.

What does it means to Singapore and the rest of the world? It means this virus cannot be stopped unless a preventive measures are in place to quarantine everyone from Mexico & United States that have the slightest flu like symptoms regardless of any fever.

Of course, a quarrantine camp should be as comfortable and secure as possible to have everyone a room to themselves with their own toilets. They should have all the masks & sanitiser available to prevent them from spreading the virus to other quarantined mates.

If Red Alert ever announced, the whole Singapore should have a rule to  ”WEAR A MASK” to work, play or any crowded location with a nurse to distribute spare “mask” as much as possible or bar people from entering crowded places such as MRT & BUS.

All MRT should have some kind of hand sanitiser dispenser for people to sanitise their hands before going into MRT so to avoid spreading the flu virus by touching the poles inside the MRT and transfer to their eyes, nose or mouth.

Of course, those who are not sick yet keep the vitamins C & buy enough “protection” such as N95 mask & hand sanitisers.

I believe Singapore can pull through this one with much preemption actions rather than being complacent.
