3rd drowning in a week

According to Straits Times:

A CHINESE national drowned in the sea off Changi Beach on Sunday afternoon in the third drowning incident here in a week.

Mr Lin Zhong, a 20-year-old who worked in a furnishings factory, was said to be with three colleagues in chest-deep water just off the shore when he went under.

This is very weird, 3rd drowning in a week in the same location? Anyone have news about the previous 2 drowning?

Personally I had almost drown when I was young in a swimming pool, I was playing at the adult pools while I was a non-swimmer then…by myself and with a piece of cloth in the pool.

When I was drowning, I managed to bobbed up and down while screaming my fruitlessly to 2 women 2 meters away from me but they think I am playing but when I struggle more badly and drink more water…and panic in my face alerted the 2 women…they came and gave me a hand…and I was saved.

I know the feeling of being drown especially when the water goes into your brain…it’s a painful experience…it’s mind numbing!! It’s that kind when large amount of water enter the nose…it’s terrible pain.

Later in life I managed to learn how to swim and it will save lifes if you can just learn the following tips.

  1. Learn how to swim (haha)
  2. Don’t panic (obviously hard to control)
  3. Hold your breath to trap air inside your lung to stay afloat, if you exhale…you will be sinking like a brick
  4. Eat more fatty stuff, you float like a balloon.
  5. Drink Coke or fizzy drinks before swimming? (Not confirmed yet, maybe loses effect after farts)
  6. Get a swimmer guy to be with you ALWAYS even at shallow water because you won’t know how fast the under water current can be.
  7. Wear “flotation device”, not those improvised types made famous by Mat Selamat Katsari but use a ring float instead if you are unable to swim.
  8. Don’t swim at sea if you are not a good swimmer.
  9. Be very careful with debris under the water, sometimes there maybe creatures such as jelly fish that may sting you badly.
  10. Changi Beach? That’s the last place to swim as it’s the most reputable for World War II execution ground by the Japanese where loads of locals were either shot or beheaded there….before sending them to their watery grave.
