Aware of what? AWARE?
I just got “zapped” for not being aware of the group “AWARE” in Singapore which had their “drama” pasted all over the local main stream media that only focus on the DRAMA but less on the real issue behind the story.
Let’s list out some of the key players in this saga at EGM today
- Aware – Association of Women and Research (previously 100 to 200 members and now…2000++ members?)
- Ms Josie Lau - New Aware executive committee President
- Ms Sally Ang - new executive committee, when she angrily shouted to the jeering audience to ‘shut up and sit down!’
- Red Shirts – Pro Woman, Pro Family, Pro Singapore (New Guard)
- White Shirts – We are Aware (Old Guard)
- Nominated MP Siew Kum Hoong - an associate member since last October and an ardent supporter of the old guard commitee
I am not sure of why this thing is such a big issue while there was a Old AWARE Instructors’ Manual. (read esp pg.13) that seems to say that Homosexuality is perfectly normal while stating that Singapore law does not recognize homosexuality and deems homosexual sexual activities as unnatural (and probably illegal).
The new AWARE group seems to hold on to the “Christian” rule that homosexual should not be allowed and should not be promoted hence their “Pro Women, Pro Family” key words?
Personally, I don’t care about what Homosexual or Lesbianism does in their private time as long as they don’t disturb the striaght people with a “stalker” mentality and stick to their own kind.
As a straight person talking, this Aware saga seems to be just another “free advertisment” to gain more popularity in memberships…hmm now seems to be growing in numbers.
What the Governtment or Religious groups should understand that not everyone can be who you want them to be as they are born to be who they are.
Because there won’t be a 100% draconian consenses on the issue on homosexuality among the whole of Singapore or even the world the only solution is to simply “close one eye” or else there could be trouble in the near future while the “White Guard” goes against the “Red Guard” in the illegal fashion by protesting in the public.
Wait, am I missing the point? Hmmm
