According to ChannelNewsAsia:

Meanwhile Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan has said that while the H1N1 strain remains relatively mild, the communal spread of the virus is likely to happen soon.

Expect more H1N1 cases, says Mr Khaw. It is just a matter of time before the communal spread of the virus will take place, as patients would have had contact with numerous people in the community.

Mr Khaw said: “As some experts in WHO put it, one-third of mankind will be infected over the next two years. One-third of mankind in Singapore means one million people will be down with it.”

“So, the important part of health care becomes looking for people who are high risk – pregnant, those who have asthma and other illnesses.”
Mr Khaw added that the alert level will not be raised to Orange based on the number of cases alone, but on factors such as changes to the virulence and evolution of the virus.

As of Sunday, the Ministry has served 82 Home Quarantine Orders (HQOs) to close contacts of the five confirmed cases. 68 others who have been in close contact with the affected patients are already out of the country. The Ministry has also lined up other facilities for quarantine purposes, if needed.

And as the school holidays have already started, many would be planning vacations overseas. Mr Khaw said Singaporeans should really try and avoid going to North America, if they can do so.

Meanwhile, all five H1N1 patients remain stable. Three have been discharged but the first H1N1 case is still undergoing treatment in hospital.

Here’s what I think is happening

  1. The MOH cannot prevent the H1N1 type A from spreading
  2. They found out they had limited resources to contact trace everyone that gets in contact with the infected patients
  3. They realized that the costly thermal cameras are useless but found no excuses to take them down other than lowering the threat level
  4. The cost of this operation is hitting the budget badly…hmm
  5. The flu really not deadly enough for them to get so concerned so let the high risk people die….(survival of the fittest)

Suggestions to Asthmatic or people with underlying illnesses such as heart problems, lung problems, pregnant and many others…kindly do take care of your own health, drink more water, top up on vitamin c, eat healthy, sleep sufficient and if you really worried…wear mask to work to prevent others from infecting you.

I know fear is not best to be given to people like me that has bad chronic asthmatic condition…but PLEASE do take care.

The solution is not easy to swallow and probably impossible but like what Health Minister Khaw said, don't worry and get a SLOW BURN of this virus.

The authorities are trying their best to calm the public instead of sounding alarmist or depressing to allow people to continue with their lives knowingly that people with underlying illnesses probably in the highest RISK group will NOT be able to make it through easily.

That may be a huge number of people that had developed asthmatic conditions during the haze days or are born with it like I did.

I am sounding the alarm for these people to take care of themselves, wear mask even if they are not sick and wash their hands before touching their nose, eyes and mouth.

That's the only thing I can do to save as many people who read this as possible.

I did what I can and that's all I can do, it's their choice now...and for those who NEVER prepare for it and got serious asthmatic...pray hard for them.

If you are so smart, why not join MOH instead. Stop giving people more worries and start offering solutions instead.
