According to Singapore Seen:

What kind of example is this man setting for his young son seated next to him, wonders a STOMPer, who allegedly approached the former to give up his priority seat to an old woman.

Ben was appalled by this. He emailed STOMP on Mar 21 and said: “It was a rainy afternoon when I boarded the ever crowded train at Dhoby Ghaut. I was dismayed by the sight of a father and son, both sitting on priority seats not willing to give up their seats to a frail old lady.

“Thinking that he may be too engrossed in his papers, I tapped him and asked,” do you mind giving up your seat to someone who needs it more than you? You are on priority seats.”

With the papers in his hands, he looked at me briefly and replied nonchalantly, “I mind.”

- This guy is about to get plenty of shit storm heading his way and soon nicknames will be passed around his work place making him the “star” of the month.

It won’t be long before the whole Singapore get to know this guy “frowning face” and unable to shake of his image of him refusing to give up the seat to an old lady.

However, we also must think of his position now that he is “famous”…we may be too quick to pass judgment base on one side of the story.

Maybe it’s wise for him to approach the news and explain himself properly before the whole Singapore get to spread his photo around with unkind remarks.

Maybe there should be a better way of posing such “feedback” to the internet so that he will see it immediately when he walks out of the MRT.

for example

  1. Click photo/video
  2. Post to Youtube
  3. Send link to SMRT to embed into their video broadcasting television.
  4. Immediate broadcast for 2 hours.
  5. Man on the Singapore Seen/you tube for 1 month until he apologies on newspaper or time run out.

However, if it’s a misunderstanding ….all hell will break lose and the local papers will have more readers later….
