Repeated calls for GST cuts and help for SMEs in Budget debates

According to Channelnewsasia:

SINGAPORE: Members of Parliament repeated earlier calls for a cut in goods and services tax during the Budget debate in Parliament on Wednesday. There were also requests for more pro-active help schemes for small and medium-sized businesses.

Singaporeans can be helped during this economic crisis by a two percentage point cut in the goods and services tax, say some Members of Parliament. Others believe a GST reduction for one year or until Singapore emerges out of the current recession would have significant benefits.

- Ahhh the future of our next generation will probably pay no taxes in a world without government control & assistance…

You can forget about honest Government if the taxes goes down because those taxes are basically to pay these ministers to be incorruptible.

Jokes aside, in the old game of The SIMS…taxes reduction is one of the key factors in controlling civil unrest but if you cut too much may also reduce the country’s effective usage of funds.

Since December 2008, California is almost broke with debts that forced the Governor namely the famous Anorld Schwarzenegger (Terminator) to consider signing a plan to increase taxes!!

There are several ways the Government can consider helping the people back on to their feet without spoon feeding them.

There are many incentives that the Government is giving out help those who are jobless now…but instead only give them a kind “gesture” of a few hundred dollars budget on GST credits & prevent them being “Axe” from their job just for a 12% jobs credit maximum to $300 for the first $2500 pay.

That means the employer gets to “benefit” a small “token” from this $5000 per month executive that can be potentially replaced with two China PRC with higher certification & “youth” at way lower starting pay.

With 20 million Migrant China workers just lost their jobs recently, imagine out of these comes 100,000 super qualified & English Speaking executive fly to Singapore in budget airlines and offer themselves at $1500 each…starting pay…what will be the outcome?

Dear leaders, you have to start to control your “free entry” passes to replace the “only resource” that Singapore have…Singaporeans.

With many Singaporean thinking of migrating to neighboring countries with their CPF money just because they loses their jobs here to 2 cheap workers is a clear and present danger.

By reducing GST itself DO NOT save those people who have no significant savings and recently found themselves in the streets with a box full of their office stationary.

It’s JOBS itself that will save these people and availability of jobs…can allow jobless people regain their purchasing power & resume their annual “growth” in prosperity.

The only way to solve this problems is to hire these folks under the wing of GOVERNMENT contractors or workers for at least a reasonable pay and under a big budget for retraining ON THE JOB training.

The government can nationalize certain industry and take over from PRIVATE corporation which I believe had been done such as Temaske, NTUC, DBS, POSB, GIC, Media Corps, Police Home Team, Town Council, Community Center, Construction tendering, HDB, Singapore Post and etc…

Of course, the government linked companies does have certain advantages over others such as higher chances of getting projects from government sector & more “respected”.

I truly believe that the Government can bring up the renewable energy sector & sustainability development sector to provide jobs & sustainability at the same time.

We need both to work it out, for those Singaporeans who had lost their 5 figures job and unable to find a equal pay jobs…please kindly accept the fact and take slighly lower pay or at least sustain your living & maintain or service any remaining debts.

Cutting GST may be only the simple way out but not the solution, giving out money for jobless people will make people exploit the system and remain jobless…the only way is GIVE JOBS & TRAIN THEM for future jobs.

For me to name this scheme is “Stepping Stone On The Job Training Scheme”, basically hire these people to work for any related businesses linked to the government & managed by the people for the people….with government control.

They can be hired for hawker in a special road side merchant but with “Easy & Automatic” licensing system that even those who don’t know how to read can start out immediately with just a registration on their NRIC and a basic “materials” to sell and a location to sell them while others can choose to be admin, sales, PR, HR, electrician, solar panel installer, urban indoor farmer (with grant) and people to give assistance to those who need help…for labor.

Some land can be allocated for temporary cheap housing for those really penniless & in heavy debt whom can’t really afford a new 1 room HDB flat (executive flats) downgrade….to pitch their tents or build eco buildings with sandbags & barbwire.

There may be more ideas around a sustainable city but with a economic crisis, nobody can afford bank loans for a smaller flats or able to get ANY loans without proper “job” as backing.

I understand that what I am proposing sounded very much like a socialist idea to support the people in need by the man in power but the people might lose their “freedom”.

However, when the people in need are able to stand on their own 2 feet with sufficient savings or found a proper paying jobs when the economic crisis receded…they can choose to “upgrade” their own surrounding once again however with extreme caution to not get into serious debts once again with a pretext of “stable well paying job”.

There are no longer stable jobs in the market and even the simplest job of sweeping the floors had thousands of people queuing up at the custom check point daily…

Remember, sometimes is change your attitude & bend your pride and ask for help once you know it’s “impossible” to do it alone…

If you need assistance and don’t know how to go about getting aid, call the ComCare Call hotline on 1800- 222-0000 for directions about the various help schemes available.

There are various schemes that the needy can apply via the ComCare call hotline for different reasons such as ComCare Enterprise Fund (CEF), Work Support (WS), ComCare Transitions (CCT), Centre-based Financial Assistance Scheme for Childcare (CFAC), Kindergarten Financial Assistance Scheme (KiFAS), Student Care Fee Assistance Scheme (SCFA), Healthy Start Programme (HSP), Public Assistance (PA) and finally Assistive Technology Fund (ATF).

All these schemes seems to be quite low profile or even unknown to many people in Singapore…maybe it’s time EVERYONE should know about these schemes before approaching the Ministers directly for assistance.

CALL 1800-222-0000 TODAY and tell your story and find out what scheme you can apply for assistance! Don’t delay!! Tell your friends in need about this number! GO GO GO!
