kendrick,

I am guessing your parents and grand parents are well off...or have high post jobs. :)

My dad is a poor construction worker that is on contract basis that have on and off projects. His CPF is virtually zero because of housing and have plenty of credit debts.

Rehiring them is one issue but if they can really work at that age is another.

Old people have health problems high blood and sugar, mental ability to remember things are starting to fade. Productivity will be much lower then the younger generation. The ability to hire and remain competitive to market will means they will be paid much lower so that the boss can hire more old people.

This are basically slaving the old folks to death. Imagine the inflation of the current rates (M3 money inflation is about 23% year on year) and oil prices spike to USD $81 per barrel.

The future of below S$1500 jobs are considered super low income jobs and they will suffer tremendously.

They will have a much lower standard of living and seriously worst off.

When they start to do scams and MLM that requires them to believe and part with their money monthly and get no much return are even worst.

Then when they apply for low income assistance from government have to stay in smaller flats and no children that is rich. Have to prove that his income is much lower then the predetermined sum....

MOST of the uneducated ones don't even bother to apply for any assistance from Government and STARVE.

Some just complain and join some religious groups and those religious groups sometimes will provide daily food packing delivered to their door steps.

If a terrorist group of gangster group...what means to reach out and recruit people? A fanatical religious group of course!! A charitable ones at least ....

The "Terrorist Group" Hamas of Palestine provide aids to the bomb victims (Attacked by Israel) in the gaza and won them some seats in the Government!!!

This is the harshest times of the future...it's not simple as giving incentives to the poor...but also to prepare them for the worst.

there will be angry people...regardless...what the Government does...the civil unrest will come when the CPF that pegs against market prices starts to fall downwards due to the "potential" USA Recession to come...it's almost certainty to be doomed to have lower CPF in the future...

Just flip the Straits Times today and 80% to 90% is below the age of 85 appeared in the obituary!!

Good to hear that you don’t blame your parents. Whether they are good or bad, still they are your parents.As for me, both my parents passed away when I was 7. I can’t feel the warmth of my family. I am just here to put my comments on your blog so let’s keep it this way and stop whinning about your life.
