I believe you...combine both methods of lowering the temperature for those that can...and not using water heater at the evening since the water already heat up by natural sun for the day...should be warm enough to use without water heater.

Morning use at moderate then evening don't use. Good plan!

Weijun, if don't use in the morning...i might get a cold and the medical bills might be even higher ^_^

Do advice what you can use if don't use water heater in the cold morning?

jimmoo,one way to save more on your bills is not to on the heater at all. i design water heaters and even when the heater switch is off, it is still consuming energy for some time.

For those users who have water heater that can adjust the temperature by a dial knob, try switching down the heat to less then 3.

Then Slow down the flow of the water to heat the water up enough to bath. This way you save electricity and still have endurable warm water.

There is devices that can be installed to water tank heater system to save energy but I am not sure about the details. Do let us know if you know anything.

We need to identify which household appliances consume the most electricity and try to minimize usage or find alternative ways to replace them. I did an experiment and found one of the things is water heater for bathing. I found that by just using the heater once instead of twice per day, i can save more than 30% of the bills.
