According to Yahoo!Asia News:

Quote:
FEER files defence statement in Singapore libel suit SINGAPORE, Aug 13 (Reuters) – The Hong Kong-based magazine, Far Eastern Economic Review, has submitted its defence statement to a Singapore court in a libel suit brought against it by two of the city-state’s top leaders, court documents showed on Monday.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and former premier Lee Kuan Yew sued the magazine — owned by Dow Jones & Co — and its editor Hugo Restall in August last year over an article on prominent Singapore opposition politician Chee Soon Juan.

The 50-page defence statement, filed late on Friday, argued that the article did not defame the prime minister and his father because it was based on facts and fair comments.

I will be very careful if I am Yahoo News service to run this news…maybe Yahoo will be next to be sued? What’s next? The opposition is almost silenced beyond recognition…haha.

Maybe it’s not a good idea to put this news in my blog as well…what is going to happen to me? I don’t have a wealthy family to support any lawsuit!

My friend just chit chat with me just now and are complaining here and there about how the current situation in Singapore. The situation is not pretty as neighboring countries are having lot’s of complain about Singapore, is it just envy?

I don’t really understand about politics at this moment and don’t plan to talk too much about my position in Singapore political scene.

The way it’s now just “fine” and people are prospering at the moment with “high growth and high GDP” what ever that is. “More jobs” are available and the media are convincing people that “inflation is good” and our economy “will be sustainable” in the long run.

Yes, positive news does have the effect on general public and those who don’t read news just learn from gossips and hearsay that the economy is still rosy. Much of the older generation might be thinking of relaxing in the afternoon chatting with friends and not bother much about the future.

The new generation are I hope more aware of the current “real” situation of the Singapore and how Singapore politics are kind of shrouded with mystery…the words from news article overseas are sometimes quite harsh on our leaders and some patriotic Singaporeans will shout out in defense for them…

Some who are suffering right now for what ever reasons might not be happy but because of the fear of prosecution…kept their silence at least for now. They starts to complain to their “manager level” minister at their neighborhood GRC and hope and pray that it will resolve their issue(s). These hard working ministers sometimes does lot’s of hard work debating in parliament for the people….but might not solve their problems directly.

One problem that is very common is “Money Not Enough” which means that many non-elite Singaporeans might be at the losing end against the elite Singaporeans and EP holders. The pathetic salary range of low wage workers will never be able to have a proper standard of living in Singapore.

The Government can issue out free coupons for NTUC hand out for the poor and utilities rebates for 5 years that targets the poor but it’s not going to solve the problems in the long run. The debates is that these hand outs are not going to last forever and it’s just temporary to solve only a fraction of the problems.

As a believer of the coming energy crunch in the near future, the possibility of spiking of oil prices causing hardship all over the world might means that Singapore will have to really be even more fit, lean and mean trading hub to survive in the near future.

We need to encourage more renewable energies to be invested by individuals in Singapore to mitigate into future and open up the market for ad hoc business services to allow Singaporeans to set up shop ANYWHERE in Singapore like along the roads, on the pavements, parks, unused multistory car parks and etc for earning more money.

The current internet payment gateway should be improved by the banks with the help of Government to allow debit cards or credit cards to have a external password generator key chain issued to all Singaporeans so that we can trade online safely and more confidently without fear of being hacked.

The poor are getting poorer by the minute as the inflation starts to surpassed their savings interest in the bank. As scams online are getting more rampant and many had wasted their time and money in scams and network marketing (greed induced slavery) schemes, it’s time to help Singaporeans to learn how to self sustain themselves by whatever means.

Yes, we cannot help everyone on the street to learn how to self sustain and soon many policy might just end up a publicity stunts that many will just ignore and go about their ways and continue to suffer the continuation of high cost of living.

Let’s be creative Singaporeans! Re-Invent Ourselves and Start a new REVOLUTION! I mean if you can be environmentally friendly…research and just do it! If you can be inventor, go ahead and do it! If you know something VERY WELL then learn how to earn money with it! I remember a Singaporean appeared in the newspaper about his hobby of painting plastic models and he published a book on this very topic and made his hobby into his business opportunity! The Singaporean that tested his customized Casing for his remote control toys wanted to test the durability of the casing and went overseas and test it with a real gun and found out that the light weight customized casing are actually a much more better armor then the current heavy body armor vest! This hobby of his sparked a new business opportunity of the body armor making!

The world of opportunities are out there! So don’t wait! Those obstacles are just minor barriers! Someone once said that the secret of success is by failing as many times as possible!

But of course, it’s the most important to keep your jobs that earn you the most money!! Do dare to dream! Sometimes optimizing your current jobs will be the key of your success too!
