AsiaOne News:

The next time you take public transport, be suspicious if you find any handphone that seems to be mysteriously trained on you. Someone can very well be filming or taking pictures of you.

A few mornings ago, as I was taking the MRT to work in an irritatingly-packed train, I glanced up from the magazine I was reading and noticed the man standing in front of me.

Dressed in nondescript T-shirt and jeans, he was holding up his handphone as one would when messaging – except that he was not busy pressing away on his phone.

Instead, he was holding it there in his raised hand while occasionally shifting his hand position slightly. To most people around him, it seemed like he was looking at text messages.

I next trained my sight on where his handphone was pointing to and, immediately, my suspicion was aroused.

She was a pretty young lady, conservatively dressed in office wear. She was also dozing, unaware of the scene unfolding before her.

My curiousity aroused, I leaned forward and, true enough, the man was secretly filming the woman with his handphone.

My first instinct was to glance around to see if anyone else had noticed, but everyone was oblivious. I waited a while more, just to ascertain that the pervert was filming her.

- Personally, I do not condone perverts to take videos/photos of chiobu(babes) when they are “exposing” themselves in public area like MRT/Buses/Parks/Busstops/Coffeeshops…even when there are hundreds of hidden CCTV zooming on them and their loose clothing.

Haha…ok ok to be serious. Perverts or just some curious passerby testing their video functions with their shiny brand new camera on a pretty lady some lady trying to catch handsome guy’s photo…to keep for their personal “collection”…are alright for me.

I am strongly against those people who shoot videos or photos under people’s clothes that is totally illegal…so chiobu or handsome guys beware…wear your clothes properly hor!!

In fact, taking a camera and try taking “quality” photos are somehow prohibited in the MRT premises especially you stayed there for long period of time. Mobile phones video or photos are usually shaky and of zero quality, if the people are not in “exposed” state…there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

There could be even a chance to appear in the news or stomp if you are really lucky…free publicity…the most you appear 10000th times in the CCTV screen capture by the SMRT or security “band of brothers” who might see you more often.

Those CCTV might also be super low quality too…but who knows?

In fact, some journalist from overseas had said that Singapore had traded our privacy for peace and prosperity…see Odex had easily get those downloader’s IP addresses from Singnet/Starhub and summon them lawyer letters?

My bet is everyone’s hand phone is a GPS tracking devices and by a single telecoms terminal can locate you from within 1.5 km in some mesh up google maps…somewhere..

Your emails and other internet “actions” can be easily logged by the ISP and can be easily traced to you via your IP addresses…your telephone conversation can be tapped under Internal Security Act and arrested without warrant or trial if you are suspect of terrorism (serious national threat…maybe just a simple spit on the face of your favorite MP)

Ok, back to the rant about photographing or video your favorite chiobu/handsome guy in the MRT/Buses or other public areas…

Solution:

  1. Use army style book-in your camera phones/PSP camera/digital camera into the respective control station with your NRIC in exchange with passes before you board the MRT/Buses
  2. Subjected to body search/cavity search/anual probe for anything resembling a digital camera at security check point with X-Ray scan and SARS red fever scan…
  3. Give the big beeper button to alarm the train officers to come to your rescue and force delete the video/photo images that the guy/girl had taken….
  4. Use a cover up sticker on the CCTV to prevent pervert CCTV footage taken of the chiobus when chiobus is on board and removed when chiobus alight the MRT/Buses.

Each respective scenario may delay your boarding of MRT/Buses by maybe 1 hour…maybe more. (Disclaimer Note: I do not hold responsible to any lost of lives, money and or properties in any event one or more of my ideas are utilized by the relevant authorities)
