Hi, Simon,

I came across your blog while I am looking if there is any place for me to voice some complain over an irresponsible food stall in jurong east entertainment Kopitiam.

I am not sure if you will publish my complain. I just want to voice out and hope more ppl be aware of the dangerous taking food in jurong east entertainment centre 2nd floor kopitiam.

My wife has went there few times. She has few bad experience of buying food
there.

Eg. Today she has take away food (sotong) from Korean food stall. When she
eat, she was so shocked to see “small long metal wire” in the sotong when
she eat the sotong. She pull out from her mouth and so shocked to see it! It
is so dangerous!

I really don know where I can voice out this for public awareness to eat
food carefully in future! Is it first time or nobody file a complain to
them?

Next is the stall selling “Niang Toufu”, she has once experience of buying
the Niang Tou Fu which is not fresh and has already a little bad taste. She
is so angry that now all the food increase price but why the quality reduce
and even selling those lousy quality food to consumer.

With this two case, I think my wife only able to buy coffee or tea in the
kopitiam there and dare not take food even from other stall.

I feel that one stall irresponsible may cause whole food court reputation
become worse. And it is really our consumer to voice out such serious
problem so that everybody will aware of the unforeseen danger.

Thanks for reading my complain. I not sure if this will be published in your
blog or else. Or if you can give some suggestion where I can file a complain
to.

Thanks,

Regards

- Dear AK

Thanks for your email concerning the recent poor quality of food experienced at Jurong Entertainment Centre under “Kopitiam” food court franchise company. I do believe many people also experienced similar problems in other food court under “Kopitiam” care. It’s about time someone put this in black and white and give Kopitiam management a formal feedback letter.

On a similar complain, my neighborhood coffee shop (Bukit Batok West Ave 5) had recently renovated and converted into a food court under “S11″ and the quality of food simply dropped signifcantly and practically destroyed the location as a 24 hour hang out area. Usually, it’s full of cars parked on the side of the road to enjoy a good meal of “Traditional Teo Chew Porriage” and other nice stalls but now it’s all taste like bland and amateurish.

I somehow know the source of the problem through my mother who is a insurance agent and handle most of the fire insurance for stalls of the coffee shop nearby before renovation.

The previous coffee shop owners had given up on their stalls because the rental cost had went skyrocketing. They moved on to other locations or simply quit totally…taking their cooking skills away for good. Now, under the new management of “S11″ the pricing of food are controlled by one company hence no possibility of price slashing to get more customers. The cost of operation are also controlled under “S11″ hence the use of raw materials may not of the best quality because it’s cheaper.

There are also other speculation of the global shortage of food source is something to do with the current situation. Ordinary food stall that does not have capital backing cannot survive in the fiercely competed food industry by cooking good food alone.

If S11 never intervene and set up shops there in the area, the location will be housing empty stalls instead.
