- This is a disaster! My friend in Malaysia is having problem calling some of his friends probably due to congested network or damaged telephone network.

The serious problem now is scores of crops are destroyed in this flood and there are huge implication for fellow friends in Malaysia.

He advised residents in the low-lying areas to be on the alert as the high tide was expected at 6pm Monday.

Dr Chan said 9,587 flood victims from 1,474 families were sheltered in 37 evacuation centres. Of the total, 8,223 from 1,215 families are in Kuching Division.

“Food has been supplied to 7,400 flood victims,” he added.

He said the schools closed today included 94 primary and 10 secondary schools.

Dr Chan said Syarikat SESCo had disconnected the electricity supply in some flooded areas for safety reasons.

They are going to feel the full impact of the crisis and may suffer from now up till 17 January as the tide is the highest.

This may impact tourist from Singapore and possible food import disruption to Singapore, we should find ways to help out our neighbors if possible….not sure what but do think of ways.
