A SINGAPORE firm has threatened to sue websites that use pictures or graphics to link to another page, claiming it owns the patent for a technology used by millions around the world. In a move that has come under fire from the online community, VueStar Technologies has sent ‘invoices’ to local website operators asking for thousands of dollars in licensing fees

- Apparently this company is planning to “take on” giants like Mircosoft and Google!!!

Forum discussion on this at Hardwarezone is describing huge amount of legal jargon that I have no time to read but for those who are implicated (ALL web owners with graphics links) should read it seriously especially those received invoices to pay this company.

To me this is huge, it’s a internet quake that might even bring down the world. This guy who invented some kind of linking via an image wants to claim $$$ for his “invention” application…

IF this company get his way to get $$$ from web owners THEN….. anyone who had written a code and “invent” some kind of new method of surfing the web such as Flash, HTML, PHP, Java, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, XML and more are claiming a fair share of “ROYALTIES payment annually” then the whole internet might suddenly be a wasteland with nothing but ultra-rich companies website dominated by pornographic materials or gambling sites. Most likely the very companies that can “afford” to put up a website is those who spammed you with emails to “enlarge your manhood”

This is seriously unsound ideas and can possibly invoke a global strike against this company or the “patent officer” who examine this and granted the wide scope of this patent. Obviously the seriousness of this also affects the intellectual property rights if his “claims” are overturned and ignored.

The world wide web is going to die off without a whisper when everyone wants a “share” of their invention and who will fight this miserable company? YOU!! Stand up and wake up!
