Dear Community Partner,

BREAK-INS AT COFFEE SHOPS

This letter serves to alert you on the recent spate of break-ins at coffee shops. Since last December till to date, a total of 16 cases of house break-ins were reported. As such we would like to reiterate the importance of beefing up the security and crime prevention features at your premises.

Modus Operandi

  1. A majority of these cases took place during the wee hours of the morning between 3.00am and 4.30am. As there were no signs of forced entry, the culprits could be familiar with the locking mechanism of the roller shutter, or could have used a master key to gain access into the premises. On other occasions, the culprit was seen using a cutter to cut the padlock to gain entry.
  2. CCTV footages revealed that the culprit would cover his head using plastic bags so his face would not be captured on the CCTV images. He would then force open the cash register/unsecured drawers to steal. Items stolen include cash amounting to $16,000 and cigarettes worth $7,000.
  3. The culprit’s description is given as:

i. Male with fair complexion
ii. Slim built
iii. Spotted with thick curly hair
iv. Wearing flowery designed long sleeves shirt

The following pictures depict CCTV footages of the culprit in actions.

Anyone seen him please kindly report to police please!
